Defined by the Dictionary of Obscure Sorrows, the term “Nodus Tollens” is used to describe “the realization that the plot of your life doesn’t make sense to you anymore—that although you thought you were following the arc of the story, you keep finding yourself immersed in passages you don’t understand.”

"Nodus Tollens" is an introspective work for string quartet which showcases Rider's ability to weave interlocking melodic elements into a palette of sonic beauty.

Program:
Rhiannon Giddens – At the Purchaser’s Option
Addison Rider – Nodus Tollens
Germaine Taliaferre – String Quartet
Franz Schubert – String Quartet #14 in d minor, “Death and the Maiden”
